Media Release Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center Foundation Elects New President Fishersville Virginia
Mr. Nicely has also served as Chief Operating Officer of Goodwill Industries of the Valley and Chairman, President, CEO and Director of Community National Bank. Mr. Nicely also has a long history in manufacturing having served as Executive Vice-President of Magnox Inc., an international chemical holding company and its affiliates He has a lifelong commitment to community service and civic involvement including serving as President of the Pulaski Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, New River Valley Economic Development Alliance and has served three Governor’s Economic Development Strategic Planning efforts. The WWRC Foundation supplements the WWRC state budget by procuring special adaptive equipment, and supporting special projects such as the newly opened STAR mobility trail on the campus. Last year the Foundation contributed over $13,000 to activities, equipment and projects that benefited the nearly 300 clients and students in service each day at the center. According to Dr. Richard S. Luck, Acting Executive Director of the Foundation, the election of Mr. Nicely as president signals, “a new beginning for the Foundation. Hi’s leadership, especially in the area of non profit fund raising and development, is particularly significant during a time of tight state and federal budgets.” Mr. Nicely noted that “the immediate challenges of the Foundation are to significantly enhance the endowment fund; purchase much needed state of the art physical therapy equipment and support client programs.” He further stated that “the Foundation is especially fortunate to be an eligible beneficiary organization of the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund and is one of only 360 such organizations in the country. I am looking forward to the support and assistance of this fund and others to accomplish the noble work of helping to make the lives of Virginians with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities more pleasant, promising, and productive.” The WWRC Foundation is a 501(c) 3 not for profit organization that operates to serve the clients, customers and patients of the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, www.wwrc.net a state owned comprehensive medical/vocational rehabilitation center operated by the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services. The center provides services annually to approximately 3000 Virginians with disabilities at its campus located in the Shenandoah Valley between Staunton and Waynesboro Virginia. |
